To start, we want to first thank everyone for their kind support and generosity. Rita has not had the opportunity to respond or thank everyone personally but she has expressed her gratitude repeatedly. The road to recovery has not been easy thus far but we've been so grateful for the love and kindness that has been shared.
Rita received her first chemo treatment on Thanksgiving day accompanied by typical side affects and has remained in the hospital. We expect Rita will be discharged on Monday, December 7th. She has undergone a number of procedures over the past 10 days, but the hardest thing to overcome has been the no guest policy due to COVID. Fortunately, as you would expect, she has become friends with many of the doctors and nurses who have been caring for her.
We are busy this weekend getting the house ready for her arrival. Once she's home, she'll have periodic home care visits by a registered nurse to attend to her medical and nutritional needs. For now, Rita can have clear liquids only (broths, etc) and will primarily be fed intravenously.
Again, thank you for all of your love and support. Please feel free to leave a message for Rita in the comments!
See you soon ❤️
So excited to have you home on Monday!
